Our Music “Take my name and sing of your world,” said the Angel Tehmussin, “Songs of life, love and adventure, of courage and freedom, of heroes and demons and of all the human passions.” and this is what we do. The band is headed by Anthony and plays mostly original music, with songs sung in several languages: English, Hindi, French, Russian, Mongolian and Greek. The foundations of the musical style spring from the Greek Rebetika tradition, but folk-rock with eastern influences would also describe it well enough. Most important is the thematic spirit: the Greek Rebetika having been a fusion of East and West that was born of the Greek diaspora from Asia minor in the early 20th Century, reflecting the issues and internationalism of our current times. Like all good music and art, it is intended to be beautiful, fun and entertaining, offering immediate appeal while being sincere and creative musical art that often reveals serious and sophisticated underlying themes when listened to in sombre mood. Instrumentation varies between songs and between albums/musical projects. Foundation is the rhythm guitar. Lead instruments are guitar and bouzouki. Bass instruments are bass guitar and sometimes the Surbahar. Santur sometimes puts in an appearance. Keyboards are used adding piano sounds and quite a lot synth strings. Roland GR55 guitar synthesizer adds a lot more sounds, from choirs to 12 string guitar. Rhythm is played on two Roland drum machines: the HP20 Handsonic and the EPD-SX-Pro.
